For weeks, General Hospital has been building, building, building to the unthinkable. The soap showed us over and over again how unstable Sonny had become since Valentin secretly had his bipolar medication dosage altered. We’ve seen how violent he can get. (Just look at poor Dex’s face.) Now the storyline is bound to climax in tragedy. The only question is, who does Sonny kill?

The mobster has already threatened both Dex and Jason’s lives, so obviously, they are the likeliest victims. In fact, on Thursday, May 30, Sonny seeks out Dex (and we’re wincing already!). The following day, Jason once again puts himself in the line of fire when he dares to push Sonny’s buttons. If he pushes too far… kaboom!

And there would certainly be story to be mined, if Sonny took either of them out. Anna would potentially have the ammo that she needs to get the gangster off of the streets of Port Charles for good. Carly and Josslyn would no doubt try to turn the whole family against the don. He could to alleviate his guilt by “mentoring” Danny on the ways of the underworld.

But no way would the show kill off either of those characters. It just got Steve Burton back as Jason amid all kindsa hoopla. And now that “Sprina” is defunct, Dex and Josslyn are the young couple on General Hospital. Throw obstacles at them, sure. But a casket? No. Especially not since Josslyn already buried one boyfriend. (RIP, Oscar.)

A likelier scenario is that an unhinged Sonny takes aim at one of the “traitors” and winds up harming someone that he never intended to. Imagine if he accidentally shot Blaze, thereby setting off a chain reaction that caused Kristina to lose TJ and Molly’s baby. Or suppose Nina wound up in the wrong place at the wrong time; would she use Sonny’s guilt as a means of wheedling her way back into her ex’s life?
