General Hospital Spoilers – John J. York’s Medical Leave Of Absence Started Months Ago

John was diagnosed with two dangerous diseases, myelodysplastic syndromes and multiple smoldering myeloma, forms of bone marrow cancer.

Myelodysplastic syndromes result from something amiss in the spongy material inside your bones where blood cells are made (bone marrow).

Smoldering multiple myeloma (SMM) is a precancerous condition that occurs when plasma cells divide too quickly, producing abnormal cells that can turn into multiple myeloma.

He was diagnosed in September 2023 and by November 2023, donor matches were found. The transplant took place in December 2023 and he underwent chemotherapy as well-we’re happy to say he’s filming GH and not only is he back, so is all his beautiful hair!

GH Spoilers – His Onscreen Wife And His Onscreen Best Friend Have Been His Biggest Champions

His onscreen wife, Kristina Wagner who plays Felicia Scorpio and his onscreen best friend, Jon Lindstrom who plays Kevin Collins have been his biggest champions, Kristina tweeting often about his progress.

Jon also has tweeted frequently about John’s progress but Kristina probably has more frequently.

Shortly after his diagnosis, John appeared on “Good Morning America” and spoke about the organization “Be The Match” – mirroring the fictitious charity Willow Corinthos agreed to represent on GH.

It’s easy to see the writers have taken real-life cues from John’s real-life situation to write recent storylines; it wasn’t long after publicizing “Be The Match” donors were found.

Kristina tweeted his return to the studio and taping with a photo of them in front of the studio, he’s wearing a t shirt with the wording “Mac Is Back!”

General Hospital Spoilers – Wrapping Up Storylines

Viewers can probably expect some progress on the Cody Bell (Josh Kelly) being Mac’s son storyline now that John is back filming-and back from his Argentinian investigation.

Scenes are filmed out of order, but usually show onscreen anywhere from two to six weeks.

Spoilers have not yet been released since he’s just gotten back, but Felicia can be expected to be involved, since the two of them were in the photo.

Likely, he had a welcome back party waiting for him at the Prospect Park studios where General Hospital is filmed. Perhaps fans will get lucky and a few behind-the-scenes photos will be released!
