Jaws dropped during the March 4 episode of General Hospital — and not only because Jason Morgan was back from the dead, either.

Though the reheated Stone Cold was able to keep bestie Sonny’s would-be killer from hitting the bullseye, he wasn’t able to prevent the gunman from firing twice at Dante at point-blank range. Jason took down the sniper, but it appeared that the damage had already been done. At the end of the episode, Dante was looking a whole lot worse for wear.

What’s more, in the March 5 episode of ABC’s resurgent daytime drama, blood starts trickling out of the detective’s mouth. Now we don’t know much more about medicine than what we’ve picked up from Grey’s Anatomy (mostly what on-call rooms are really for), but that doesn’t seem like a great sign.

Is this really the end for Sonny’s oldest child? Our hunch is… absolutely not. More likely, General Hospital vet Dominic Zamprogna’s resilient character will survive, only to have the brush with death prompt him and girlfriend Sam to decide to tie the knot. Then, of course, just in time for the wedding, his comatose former wife Lulu would wake up to crash the ceremony. (Considering that when she drifted off, she was on the verge of telling her ex that she still loved him, boy, will she be in for a shock.)

With whom would Sam share her upset over this game-changing turn of events? Who better than her own former spouse, Jason, conveniently fresh from the grave and short a love interest (owing to Britt’s demise). Mind you, there are just as many viewers who hope he’ll gravitate in this direction.
