Days Of Our Lives Viewership Takes A Hit Due To Peacocks Price Rise

When Days Of Our Lives first moved to Peacock from NBC, many worried about the soap’s uncertain fate. Speculations were wild, whether or not the long-running sudser would be able to survive the shift from network to digital streaming.

However, Days of Our Lives succeeded in weathering the shift. In fact, it glowed and glimmered in its new home. The streaming platform has stated many times that DOOL has consistently remained in its top 10 shows. But, can they soap sustain its popularity post Peacock’s latest price-rise?

Deadline is reporting that streaming platform is raising its subscription to a monthly $7.99, and $79.99 yearly for the Premium plan. While the Premium plus plan will move up to $13.99 and $139.99 monthly and yearly respectively. Both tiers seeing a price rise of extra $2 a month.

Now, in complete honestly, no one likes it when they have to shell out extra bucks. Especially, when they already sustained a price rise not too long ago. The change will be effective for new customers from July 18, 2024. While, existing customers will see the change in their next billing date after August 17, 2024.

So, the looming question here is – will viewers stick around with the increased subscription? Long answer short- Days of Our Lives fans who love watching the show will have no choice but to accept the increase, if they want to continue watching their favorite soap. But it does not really have to be a bad thing, because Peacock does have a lot more to offer.

Apart from the famous soap, Peacock also steams NBC’s shows like – the Law and Order, and Chicago. It also carries The Real Housewives, and Peacock’s own smash hit – The Traitors. It also has a partnership with Hallmark to stream the Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Drama and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.

Peacock also has in its kitty the exclusive rights to the WWE Network for wrestling sports and NBC Sports – including the upcoming 2024 Olympics. Having pointed out all of the above, there is one big silver lining here for Days of Our Lives. Incase the platform becomes profitable post the price rise, there is a possibility of the soap getting a bump in the budget!
