Days of Our Lives’ Teen Scene Undergoes Another Shake-Up

Spring may have just sprung, but rest assured because summer is just around the corner! How do we know? Well, for one thing, Days of Our Lives‘ teen scene just got an upgrade with the addition of a newcomer who, we have a feeling, is about to make things interesting for Holly and Tate!

In the daytime world, teen storylines tend to pick up over the summer since school is out and younger viewers may be more prone to tune in. So it’s no surprise that, as Soap Hub reported, Madelyn Kientz is debuting this week as Sophia, a friend of Holly’s. And it’s a friend that we already know has got her eye on Tate!
That much we spotted in this week’s preview when she eyes up Tate and asks Holly none too casually, “So you’re, like, totally over him, right?” We’re going to have to say the answer to that is a big, fat, “No!” But when did that stop anyone in Salem from going after their heart’s desire?
While we can’t be sure how long Kientz and Sophia are sticking around, we first got a glimpse of the actress at Days of Our Lives‘ 15,000th episode party with Holly and Tate’s portrayers, Ashley Puzemis and Leo Howard. So she’s going to be around until at least December when those episodes air!

As for who Sophia is, Kientz told Soap Hub that she’s been friends with Holly “since they were kids.” And on top of that, she’s “determined and ambitious.” OK, well, that means Holly definitely needs to keep an eye on her longtime friend and Tate! But that doesn’t mean she’s bad. After all, Tate and Holly have been forbidden from seeing each other, and Kientz hopes “viewers will fall in love with her as much as I have.”
While this is the actress’ first daytime role, she’s far from a drama novice, having had recurring roles on Walker, The Walking Dead: World Beyond and Big Sky. And see how dramatic Tate and Holly’s lives have already been since they showed up in town as teens, we can’t even imagine what they’ll be like if anyone comes between them.
