General Hospital fans will never forget March 21, 2011, not any more than Elizabeth ever will. On that day, she and Lucky learned that their son Jake had died. They even donated the boy’s kidneys to Josslyn, who needed an organ transplant to beat cancer, and blamed grandpa Luke for drunk-driving the car that had killed Jake.

Needless to say, like most other General Hospital fatalities, the youngster rose from the grave alive and well a few years later.

Now his biodad Jason has done the same thing — for the second time — and Jake isn’t having it. In fact, he’s added his voice to the chorus of those who believe that Stone Cold shot Dante. What happens next promises to be fascinating. Can Jason win over the son who spent years thinking Lucky was his dad? Can he sway Jake after giving him up so that he could continue to protect Sonny and his family? If you were Jake, would you forgive him?

It’s fantastically unsteady ground for the show’s new writers to tread and could lead to a major turning point for Jason. He likes to think of himself as the good guy. The guy who gets [bleep] done. The guy who does whatever it takes. But now “whatever it takes” is for him to quit the shoot-’em-ups, drop Sonny like he’s hot and work full-time with the feds — fighting crime rather than perpetrating it.

If he does that, Jason might actually find hearts that had to close to him reopening. Remember, Liz and Sam both only broke up with him because of his dangerous life as a mobster. Being an agent is hardly risk-free, but it’s not quite the free-for-all that being a moving target for the Five Families is. Jason might even be able to rebuild a relationship with Jake by showing him that he can put his children first.
