Do I believe for a moment that Bold & Beautiful‘s Sheila is dead? Not on your — of her — life. But dang, this week gave us some fun moments, didn’t it? Let’s dive in…

Fright Night

Monday’s episode thrilled me from the very first moments. Why? They started with waves crashing on rocks, an ominous soundtrack, and then long shots of the beach house on a dark-and-stormy night. For a second, I felt like I was a kid again watching the gothic soap Dark Shadows. And when Sheila lunged at Steffy, who stabbed her in the heart? I literally gasped aloud.

Then Sheila started coughing up blood, which spread across that carpet. Any fan of horror movies or solid thrillers like Fatal Attraction knows that the only satisfying end a villain can meet is a bloody one. We need to feel as if they’ve paid the price for everything they’ve done. So it made sense that Sheila’s demise would be as gory as possible, and I loved every single second of it.

Not So Fast…

Then on Tuesday, we started with a paramedic saying that Sheila had a pulse… and we all screamed at our television set, in unison, at having been tricked by Bold & Beautiful‘s writers yet again. But no, it was a trick-within-a-trick, because a few minutes later, she was declared dead! Or should I say someone was declared dead.

If you’ve been reading our coverage of this story, you know that as a staff, we don’t believe Sheila’s dead. No way. The clues have all been there, starting with the mysterious person Sheila’s been sneaking off to meet. Sugar, is that you? And as word spread, how did nobody say, “Did we check for that missing toe to make sure we’re not being scammed again?”

More: Meet the person we think Steffy really killed!

After so thrilling a start to the week, I was wildly annoyed by the fact that we then spent a whole lot of time endlessly repeating the same five or six lines over and over. And the scenes in which Hope and Brooke discussed recent beats in the Steffy/Sheila story were downright painful.

They worked the words “biological mother” and “birth mother” into every sentence possible, including this wildly, ridiculously unatural utterance from Hope: “I’m in shock that Steffy took her husband’s birth mother’s life!” Hey, Bold & Beautiful? Absolutely nobody talks like that!

What Happens Next?

If there’s one thing Bold & Beautiful isn’t, it’s subtle. So when Steffy began saying that she’d only be able to find peace if Sheila was dead, we knew something along these lines had to be coming. I sort of assumed Sheila would be murdered and Steffy would be the prime suspect. I still think that would have been a fantastic storyline that could have unfolded on both Bold.& Beautiful and Young & Restless, but… well, we can’t have nice things.

So instead we get Steffy stabbing Sheila — and I kinda feel like I should be doing “Sheila” because of the aforementioned doubts — with the fallout clearly landing squarely on Finn’s marriage. Because clearly, Finn is deeply upset about the fact that the woman who gave birth to him is dead. Which is all well and good except for one small problem: As fans such as Kaei pointed out on Twitter, this ain’t the first time Finn has believed his mom dead. And he seemed a whole lot less upset at the thought of her being devoured by a bear — a pretty gruesome way to go — than by his wife stabbing her in self defense!

Hope For Finn’s Future

Obviously, the show plans to put Finn and Steffy through the wringer, with him struggling to accept that she killed his mom. And in case you missed the oh-so-subtle signs, that means that Liam will be free to make a beeline for Steffy, while Finn will find himself relying more and more on Thomas. Cue the creepy music as we wonder if his dark side will emerge to deal with the threat of Finn.

More: Finn’s being ‘killed off’ right in front of us!

Now look, I know that Sinn Nation is going to hate the idea of their favorite couple being torn apart. But let me remind them of a few things. First, this is a soap. Every couple, no matter how much they are loved, eventually is torn asunder. From General Hospital‘s Luke and Laura to Young & Restless‘ Nikki and Victor, no couple is sacred. But more importantly, if they don’t part, they can’t have the epic reunion… like the one Steffy and Finn shared in Monte Carlo.

I suspect there’s a long and rocky road ahead for these two, but I’m here for it. I’ve long said that I don’t ship couples, I ship storylines. You know what happens to a couple on this show who doesn’t face strife? They become Katie and Carter, hangin’ out in the background waiting for someone to need a recap of what’s going on or, in his case, a wedding officiated.

Random Thoughts

• So the police asked Steffy about three questions and then… left? No sealing the scene of the crime, no asking her to stay elsewhere while they conduct their investigation? That’s… yeah, not how this works.

Deacon Liam B&B

• Liam told Deacon he wasn’t a big fan of the “dine-in experience” at Il Giardino because of Sheila. But why even order takeout? I have it on pretty good authority that there are at least two other restaurants in Los Angeles.

• Speaking of Liam, given his recent obsession with the idea of reuniting with Steffy, shouldn’t he have dashed to her place — or at least called — the moment Deacon told him that he had no idea where Sheila was?

• Will someone please call Lauren Fenmore and share this news with her? (Supposedly, she was told off-camera about Sheila’s latest resurrection, so let’s have her react to the latest “death” on air, shall we?)
