We guess it’s true what they say: You can’t keep a good woman down! It didn’t take long for the news to emerge after Sasha Calle left The Young and the Restless‘ Lola that she’d been tapped to be the next Supergirl in the big screen blockbuster, The Flash. That project, though, was beset by a number of problems and by the time it was released, Calle’s future as a big screen superhero was up in the air.

While fans loved her take on Supergirl enough to demand she return — possibly even getting her own feature film to headline — DC and Warner Bros. opted to go a different direction, jettisoning Calle in favor of a new Supergirl. It wasn’t entirely a surprise due to the unique nature of the movie and since the company decided to take their superhero movies in a new direction, but it was still disappointing.

But that wasn’t going to dim a star like Calle. Because now, according to our sister site Deadline, the actress is set to appear in a neo-noir thriller set against the backdrop of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics with some seriously big names.

The thriller is called Lips Like Sugar, and it probably isn’t a coincidence that it shares a name with Echo & the Bunnymen’s hit ’80s song — though their “Lips Like Sugar” was released in 1987, three years after the Olympics.

Also starring in the film with Calle is Woody Harrelson and Owen Wilson as a pair of homicide detectives looking to solve a possible serial killer case, along with Juliette Lewis, Big Little Lies‘ Kathryn Newton and The Boys‘ Erin Moriarty. Per Deadline, Calle and Newton will play teenagers Andi and Tracy who become fast friends, before Newton’s character disappears, leading the detectives and Andi to search for her.

The film’s still in the early stages, so there’s no word yet on filming or a release date, but it’s safe to say Calle will be keeping busy for a while with the new project.
